Fermentation technology to improve piglet performance and feed efficiency
MAXFERM is a functional fungal fermentation product that improves the digestibility of pig diets and supports stronger growth from weaning through finishing. Produced using selected strains of Aspergillus and Neurospora fungi, MAXFERM contains residual enzymatic activity that breaks down non-starch polysaccharides (NSPs) and releases nutrients otherwise locked in the fibre matrix.
For pigs, this means more energy, improved gut integrity, and better daily performance.
Improves piglet growth after weaning – Higher daily weight gain and improved feed conversion.
Better feed efficiency in grower-finisher pigs – Trials showed +25 g/day weight gain and feed conversion improved by up to 4%.
Increases nutrient utilisation – Releases protein, starch, and fat otherwise unavailable due to NSP content.
Supports gut health – Postbiotic effect helps stabilise the gut and reduce digestive stress.
Sustainable feeding – Lower nitrogen excretion and ammonia emissions.
Breaks down non-starch polysaccharides in grains and co-products that pigs cannot digest on their own.
Releases bound nutrients from the fibre matrix, making more energy and protein available.
Provides prebiotic benefits, creating a healthier intestinal environment.
Enhances diet flexibility, allowing more use of alternative cereals and co-products.
Weaned piglets (Exp. 1, n=120): MAXFERM improved average daily gain by +2.6% and reduced feed conversion ratio by -2.1%.
Grower-finisher pigs (Exp. 2, n=200): MAXFERM increased average daily gain by +2.9% and improved feed conversion ratio by -4.3%.
